Get Hooked on Mississippi Seafood!
The Department of Marine Resources (DMR) is responsible for supporting
marketing of Mississippi's commercial fisheries products including
shrimp, oysters, crabs, and commercial finfish. The seafood industry
faces many challenges in today's environment including a high increase
in competition, changes in fishery quotas, and new seafood quality
standards.
Authority:
Section 49-15-307, Mississippi Code of 1972, as amended, specifies
The department shall have the following powers and duties: (f) To
develop programs to enhance the marketing of the states recreational
and commercial marine resources.
Mission:
To promote the states commercial fishing industries including
processors, wholesalers, distributors, packagers, seafood market
suppliers, aquaculture, to include shrimp, oyster, crab, and finfish.
Vision: To develop an effective marketing strategy through cooperation
with Mississippi commercial fishing industries, including local and
federal agencies.
